Answer

Hi Jan,

Fantastic, you have chosen two great destinations for a family vacation in Thailand.
You and your family are sure to have a wonderful time in both Krabi and Phuket.

I take it that your first port of call is Krabi where you will be staying at the beautiful Sheraton Beach Resort, which by the way is a great spot to relax and unwind.

The easiest way to explore Phang Nga Bay and to see the limestone caves is to take a day trip from either Krabi or Phuket. Most tour shops in Krabi and Phuket have well organised tours available which includes pickup from your hotel or resort, however these types of tours can be somewhat crowded.

For a more personalised tour there are a couple of well known companies in Phuket that offer a range of different tours into Phang Nga Bay with limited numbers of guests on board.

Phuket Sail Tours is a family business that is owned and operated by an Australia who has been operating tours out of Phuket since 2004. Phuket Sail Tours have a good range of tours available including speed boat tours. For more information about their tours and the prices you can look at their website as well as read reviews from other travellers about their tours on Trip Advisor.

John Grays Sea Canoe, runs a few different tours, including “Hong by Starlight” or “Day in the Islands", this sea canoe tour allows you and your family to explore the famous caves around Phang Nga Bay during the day or at night. For more information about their tours and prices you can look at their website as well as read reviews from other travelers on Trip Advisor.

Simba Sea Trips is another family run company that offers group tours and private charters into Phang Nga Bay. Guest numbers are limited to 15 people per trip, so it is advisable to book in advance.

For something special you could charter a private speed boat from Phuket, where you and your family are the only guests on board.

Or alternatively if you don’t mind driving you could hire a car from Krabi and drive to Phang Nga Province taking in the sights along the way; once you reach Phang Nga you can hire a long tail boat and driver to explore the magnificent bay, before heading onto Phuket.

Some other great spots and day trips your family may enjoy while your in Krabi are the beautiful offshore islands of Koh Hong, Tup, Chicken and Poda, all of which can be reached by longtail boat.

We hope that this information is helpful and that you and your family have a fantastic vacation in Krabi and Phuket.
