Metered Taxis in Phuket

How many people can the metered taxi's carry?


Answer:

Hi Darren,

The red and yellow metered Taxi's that are located outside Phuket International Airport will seat up to 4 people as well as the driver.

They are not a large car by any means and the luggage space in the boot is minimal.

We can usually fit 2 bags in the boot and then put our other luggage across our legs in the back seat.

If you want more space another option is to barter with one of the many taxi drivers (non metered Taxi's) that will be waiting just outside of the arrivals hall.

Their prices are always always higher, but expect to pay between 700 to 800 baht depending on your bartering skills.

But please if you do use these (non metered taxis) make sure that you confirm the price with the driver and don't pay him until you get to your resort or hotel.

Over the years there have been stories of taxi drivers in Phuket taking passengers to their preferred hotels so as they (the taxi driver) can pick up a commission.
