How much spending money?

Canoeing in Phang Nga bay

Question:

I'm going to Phuket for 8 nights and would like to know roughly how much spending money I will need.

We will be doing lots of day trips and nightlife and lots and lots of activities. I need a rough estimate of how much money to take?

Answer:
Excellent question and one that every traveler will ponder before heading away on holidays.

It sounds like you are going to pack the most into your time in Phuket.

Eating out as long as you don't go to the major restaurants is really cheap, and you will find the meals are just as good if not better.

With regards to how much you will need to enjoy the nightlife will totally depend on how much you want to drink, its not hard to blow the budget on a few Singha's and tequila shots if visiting the bars in Bangla Road.

Tip: You can purchase an assortment of beers and spirits at the local shops much cheaper then the mini bar prices in hotels and resorts.

The prices of day trips vary depending on the boat and other sights and activities that are included. A day trip to Phang Nga Bay or to Phi Phi can start from 1500 Baht.

Private speed boat tours or sailing tours say with Phuket Sail Tours cost a bit more but a well worth it just to get away from the crowds.

Activities around Phuket can range from 950 Baht for Zorb balling at Kalim Bay to ATV and white water rafting tours that may cost up to 4800 Baht.

As a rough estimate if you really want to party and take in as many activities as possible take around $1500 to $2,000 Aus. You may not need it all but you don't want to find yourself short and miss out on the fun either.

We hope this information is helpful and you have a fantastic time in Phuket.

Spending money Phuket
by: Anonymous

Hi I am a family of 5. My husband and I, a teen , 7 year old and 2 year old and have been travelling to Thailand every summer for 6 years mainly Phuket and Samui . After hotel and flights. I budget 200usd a day but rarely spend that on 5 of us unless it's a tour which can add up with the eldest being charged as an adult. Yours to islands from my experience have been from 1500 baht per person reaching above 3000 baht though for most tours are with early pick ups at which point you have head breakfast. Tours often provide a snack or/and lunch so by time you are back late afternoon or early evening you are exhausted and just have dinner with a few drinks. The last few years I have ate meals and Irish/Aussie bars or places like wine connection which are more pricey that local restaurants. However after having the cramps and sickness which you would think I would be immune to by now, well I didn't want to risk it with the kids again hence the pricier restaurants. So if you were to eat locally it would be much cheaper! Half the price if not more.
