July is usually another quiet month in Phuket, and visitors will still enjoy the cheaper off season room rates at the resorts and hotels The weather in Phuket during July is similar to that of June with short downpours and many days without any rain. If you are going to spend your vacation in Phuket during the low season you will enjoy lots of benefits. As well as cheap resort and hotels rates, there are less people on the Island and lots of bargain shopping. However when booking your accommodation, I would recommend that you make sure that wherever you stay has a pool so you can go for a swim to cool off. During the low or wet season the wind blows directly onto the west facing beaches of Phuket, which at times makes the beaches too rough and dangerous to swim in. There were 53 people drown in Phuket in 2009. When the red flag is flying on the beach, don’t go in the water. What’s On in Phuket in JulyKids stay, play and eat free at Laguna Phuket from the 26th Jun to the 31st Oct 2010. The Laguna Phuket Summer Family Festival offers incredible value for money with great benefits for all Laguna hotel guests. The Laguna Summer Family Festival commences on Saturday 26th June with FIFA World Cup football matches screened at 9pm and 1.30am on Sunday 27th June. The Summer Family Festival opening party is scheduled for Friday 2nd July and will feature the first World Cup quarter finals screened at 9pm and 1.30am on Saturday 3rd July. From 26th June – 20th August all kids staying at any Laguna hotel can take part in the Summer Family Festival Kidz Fun Zone activities for free from 2-5pm daily, followed by casual evenings of family entertainment including live telecasts of international sporting events. There will be bouncy castles, a Flying Trapeze, Kidz Lounge with movies and video games and much more to keep the young ones occupied while parents relax with Happy Hour prices in the Festival Beer Tent located within the resort’s Canal Shopping Village.Hollywood@Laguna is a glamorous new feature of the Summer Family Festival. A complete film studio will be set up in Canal Village to cast families as “movie stars” filmed riding a Thai-style motorcycle with side-car on a “Virtual Motorcycle Tour of Phuket”. Guests will take home a DVD souvenir of the movie making experience. The Kidz Fun Zone program is professionally operated by Quest Laguna Phuket Adventure who specializes in team building, rock climbing and adventure programs that will incorporate a different daily activity over a two week rotation. Kids staying at any of the Laguna hotels can enjoy Wacky Games, Sports Skills; Climbing Capers; Treasure Hunts, High Ropes Adventure; Wet ‘n’ Wild; Arts & Crafts, Slip ‘n’ Splash; rock climbing and other outdoor adventure activities for free. These activities are also available to non-Laguna guests at 200 baht per child. There is one off-site activity, Bowling Bonzana, offered to everyone at 400 baht per child. These activities will also be offered on select days throughout September and October. The only problem is if you want the nightlife of Patong it can work out a bit expensive getting taxis, other then that the resorts are well set up for lots of fun activities for kids. Who loves shopping? I do, and I can’t wait to see what bargains I can pick up at the Amazing Thailand Grand Sale, Thailand’s annual shopping extravaganza begins on the 11th June to 15th August you will find lots of bargains at Jungceylon and Central Festival, discounts from 10% to 70% off, from outlets throughout the Department stores. If you are visiting Phuket between these dates make sure that you check out the bargains. Jungceylon is located in Patong and Central Festival is located on the outskirts of Phuket Town on the corner of Wichit Songhram Road and Chalerm Prakiat known as the Bypass Road. Central Festival has a Free shuttle service from Patong, three times per day. For boating enthusiasts Six Senses Phuket Race Week will be held from the 21st July to 25th July, a week of exciting international-standard yacht racing off the East Coast of Phuket.
